I look at them as an added bonus basically, where the gems or energy is the main focus of the packs value.Īn exception to this would be void shards. Shards are something I don’t really put much value to or will buy a pack specifically for. Since I disagree with your first part in certain situations, I’ll pretty much ignore that and comment on the rest. Shards shouldn’t be everything you look for, but it’s equally a mistake to ignore them and think if you buy a ton of energy packs you’re better off. What do you think happens when a timed fusion is released and these players who never open shards have none of the characters? They complain that it’s unattainable. Even if you purchase shards and get trash rares, this generally puts you closer to a fusion (either a current one or one that may be released). Some uncommons like outlaw monk can do decent damage on early clan boss, but the time and effort to 6 star it may not be worth it long term. Most people who picked a good starter can milk that starter until its farming 12-3, but then what? Without shards are you going to rank up an uncommon? Shards do have value, especially if you’re at a point where you need better characters to progress further. Generally the people saying shards are never worth it are close to f2p or they’ve been burned and opened a ton of shards and got nothing worthwhile so they assume it’s never worth it. You’re mainly right about managing expectations.
